Glitter Washer Bracelet

First appeared as a guest post at The Shaffer Sisters

G'day,

Well if you spend a bit of time over here at the mansion you know that I love me a bottle cap but recently I have been all about the washer.

When I found these little babies around $2 for 50 I had to bring them home, where they sat for a few weeks before I decided what to do with them. Want to make one?

Supplies
  • Small washers
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • Hole punch
  • Jewelry Supplies

Coat the washers in glue then sprinkle glitter all over until it dries

Shake off the glitter

Join them together with jump rings and add a clasp, mine was slightly small so I added a little chain just to extend it. Now you might notice the little mask charm, Nat over at Northshore Days often adds charms to her pieces and I love it so I added one as well, I think it just gives it a little bit of personality. It makes me think of fancy masquerade balls.

DIY Delight or disaster? Delight I think it's sweet.

Inspiration Cafe - It's a Steal.

Our new series, "It's a Steal" is in full swing right now.

It's a fun series where we "steal" or "knock off" a
fellow blogger's idea and show you what we come up with!

At the Inspiration Cafe, we are stealing ideas from each other...
so much fun!!!

It's Heather's turn this week and she has stolen an idea from Natalie over at NorthShore Days.

Click on the Cafe door to check it out!

Inspiration Cafe is looking for guest posters. If you would like to guest post, please let us know, we would love to have you.  If you would prefer a feature instead, feel free to drop us a line. New or old posts welcome.

Wire Wrap Bracelets

If it's not bad enough that I have been 'stealing" left, right and center, I have encouraged my daughter Elizabeth to steal as well. We spent a lovely evening stalking the very talented Nat from Northshore Days and decided to make one of her wire wrapped bracelets.

Here is mine

And here is Elizabeth's.

So much fun, I highly recommend these for a beginner or for tween crafters, they're very easy and can be as simple or intricate as you like. Personally I think Elizabeth did a much nicer version than mine, I was very proud of her. Go here for Nat's tutorial

So much fun, a delight for sure and Elizabeth was so proud of herself, mainly because I am sure she could see hers was better than mine and I love that!

Space Invaders Clock or The Time My Boys Drove Me Crazy!

So the boys room, I bet you thought I had forgotten about it. No but I had run out of inspiration, motivation and cash! So it was put on hold for a bit.

Then I got this clock blank while I was away for $2 and knew what to do.

I cut a space invader out on my Zing (cutting machine)

I went shopping for clock mechanism and they were $30..um insane so I bought a $3 clock and pulled it apart and used the mechanism from that - Warning don't be tempted to use your hands, the slightest bend in the clock hands will render it useless (learned the hard way on a previous attempt) I used a pair of pliers and gently pried the hands off.

I attached it to the back and there you go a custom clock and for $5.

DIY Delight or disaster? I like it, cheap, quick, easy! What's not to love? I'll tell you what's not to love, ticking apparently. I went in the boys room and noticed it missing from the wall. I panic looking around for it when I note the eye movement happening between the boys. So I demanded to know where it was, Samuel pulls it out of the closet and said, "it ticks....LOUD" Me "You have to be kidding me" Samuel, "no it's really cool, what if we just remove the battery". Smack my head, really! So for them Disaster!!

Wet Your Pants Wednesday - Birthday Edition

Morning All,

So as of yesterday I'm another year older, sadly probably no wiser but hey at least I can still laugh!

This is one rather gross way to look at it - I actually know some people who have made birthing a hobby and on their kids birthday these women wish each other happy birthing day...No words!

Really I look older than 29, of course not....if I get really far from the mirror.

I also share a birthday with my sister, so it's a bit like, is this my round or are they singing to her and if so should I be singing or will I look like a dork who sing to herself...It's very awkward!

I've finally reached this age.

But age is just a number so go do whatever makes you happy - Madonna was born the same year as my Mum!

May there be many, many more birthdays!
